Home Sweet Home

Today marks our one-year anniversary with this house.  Sure, the journey started on July 3, 2007, when we first saw the house, but it didn’t really begin until we closed on it on September 25, 2007.

In some ways it feels like we’ve been here all our lives and in some ways it feels like just yesterday that we closed, waited until October 1st to take possession, spent 48 days restoring the house, and then moved in on November 18th.  Wow, it was a whirlwind of a fall last year.  Sometimes I look back on those pictures and can’t believe we did that.  Rewiring, replumbing, new heating and air, raising the lowered ceilings, adding insulation/removing asbestos, redoing the kitchen and baths, removed the carpet/refinished the floors, among other things.  All in just over seven weeks.  Wow.

And I think about how much our lives have changed since then.   I have a new job, C.’s been promoted, we welcomed little miss Vivi into our lives, we celebrated our third anniversary, and we were blessed with the greatest joy when we were found out we were expecting a daughter.

I think it’s so easy to get bogged down in the “details” of life, but when I look back at the last year in this wonderful old house it brings tears to my eyes.  My heart is literally bursting with joy.

Happy one year anniversary, Brogdon House.  Here’s to a lifetime of memories to come!

Congrats on your one year house anniversary!

My mom and I were planning our drive to St. Louis (after the honeymoon, we’ll be driving my car up) and talked about stopping in Atlanta. I joked, “Hmmm… I know like one person there!” Of course my mom had a hard time understanding the whole, “okay, don’t really know her personally….” thing – but I’m sure you get it 🙂

I had GD when I was pregnant with my son, of course the Doctor told me this AFTER I gave birth! This was why I had my problems during child birth. The week before I had him, the ultrasound said he was 7 pounds and not ready, He came out 9 pounds and 4 ounces and 21 inches long, he was definately ready. I had him May 29th, due date was June 14th. But I did not have any problems during the pregnancy, only gained 15 pounds the whole time, but it was the birth that was scarey, he was just to big. Got stuck, but I did manage to have him completely natural ( not my choice ) I wanted drugs, but oh well, what could I do, after 19 times of them trying to give them to me, just wouldnt take! We were also in Japan, so the needles were standard, I needed longer ones, which they did not have! But every birth is different and you seem to have a great doctor and you are in the US ( a big plus)! You are in my prayers!
