Today marks 34 weeks gestation for Mary Margaret. This may seem unimportant to some, but I promise it’s a big deal. What this means is that if I were to deliver now she would have mature lungs and not need steroids.
Of course, she would still be preterm–and would be considered that for three more weeks–but if she has good lungs, adequate weight (which we know she does), and could maintain her body temperature and weight, well, we’d have us a little girl who would need very little time in the NICU.
I can’t believe my baby is almost ready to come out and that if/when she does she would be okay. I feel so blessed today to make it this far. It makes this seven weeks of bedrest so worth it.
