Up and Running

thank you thank you thank you! every item that i posted this morning in my little “adoption shop” sold out except one (the “garden party” coasters are still available)…and i already have four custom orders. i am so humbled and surprised by that. thank you, dear friends.  my goal is to get all of today’s purchases sent out on monday–i’ll send the invoices then–and have a shop update later in the week.  🙂

The ‘Adoption Fundraiser’ tab at the top of your screen is up and running…and ready for business!

We’ve got potholders, coasters, and dish drying mats so far.  And I’m busy thinking about other “kitchen-y things” to add in the upcoming months.

The potholders and coasters are string quilt blocks.  I love making these as not only are they bright and colorful, but also extremely durable.  At first I was going to do certain colors–you know, some in the red family, some in the greens, etc. to match people’s decor {and I definitely can do that if you’re interested}–but I think I’m just so happy about the adoption that the only fabrics I could use were bright and colorful and that when sewn together look like a spring garden.

And speaking of fabrics, these are some of my favorite.  You’ll probably recogonize them from some of my past projects.  The designers are all “high-end” quilting fabric makers including Michael Miller, Henry Glass, Alexander Henry, Amy Butler, Anna Maria Horner, Robert Kauffman, etc.

All the seams on the inside are professionally serged and the outside seams are triple stitched.  I hope they will provide you with years of use.

I can assure you that each item was made with love–I feel like I’m just bursting at the seams with it lately.  {Even MM asked this morning: ‘When baby sissy coming?’}

The dish drying mats are probably my favorite gift to give other people–I think I’ve given them to every family member!  As you can see above my mom uses hers everyday {although hers is upside down!} and they are great at drying pot/pans…and all those sippy cups.  The pattern is by my friend , Darby, and when I asked her if I could use it for the adoption fundraiser she said yes {thanks, girl!}.  I keep it on the counter above the dishwasher and put all the still-wet from the dishwasher things on it.  It’s also great for air drying any of the things you washed by hand.  It’s backed in super-absorbent terry cloth.

I hope you like these as much as I do. If you would like me to create something in a certain color scheme, I’d be happy to. Just email me at twougaalums *at* bellsouth *dot* net. If you would like any of the items in the shop just email me with the number and/or name and I’ll send you a PayPal invoice or you can mail me a check. Either way is fine by me.
